About Me

In the past several years, Cari has orchestrated the Thane of Cawdor's demise, hunted Jack the Ripper, butled in a Play that went Wrong, and pirated on the waters off the coast of Boston, among other theatrical adventures. Cari's 14 years of classical dance training often comes in handy onstage, as does her recent SAFD certification in stage combat.

By night an avid thespian, by day Cari is an English professor. She particularly enjoys teaching and studying fairy tales, adaptations across American media, and how stage combat contributes to narratives.

Mrs Hawking: Blood & Water, June 2026

Breaking Light Productions is pleased to announce the 9th installment, the climactic finale, of the Mrs. Hawking series!

Mrs. Hawking's team of vigilantes, The Nighthawks, has grown to include some new members. But can they learn the trade? Can Mary become the leader they need? And can Mrs. Hawking help a new client who is asking of her something she has never done before?

It is an honor and privilege to be the violence designer for this show. The Mrs. Hawking series was a large stepping stone on Cari's original journey to stage combat, and designing for this show feels like coming full circle.

Mrs. Hawking: Blood & Water is being filmed at the MCTP Theatre in Manchester, NH during summer 2026 and will be released to the Mrs. Hawking YouTube channel. For more information, visit Breaking Light Productions's homepage.

Unarmed Stage Combat Intensive SPT

EmBODY Theatre Project, June 2026

Join Fights By Flanagan in an Unarmed stage combat class hosted by EmBODY Project Theatre! At the end of this one-week intensive, you'll have the opportunity to test for certification (SPT = skills proficiency test) in Unarmed combat with the Society of American Fight Directors! And I will be there to help you along the way - I'm delighted to be serving as the Teaching Assistant for this class!
